WHOIS and RDAP lookup

Find the public registration details returned by the registry or registrar responsible for a domain.

Public registration data can be redacted or limited by the registry, registrar, and applicable policy.

RDAP replaces traditional WHOIS

Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) returns structured registration data from the registry or registrar responsible for a top-level domain. It supports secure HTTPS transport, internationalized data, and consistent machine-readable fields.

DNS Look uses the IANA RDAP bootstrap directory to locate the authoritative service. It does not use registration data to infer ownership when the public response is redacted.

What registration data may include

  • Registrar and registry identifiers.
  • Registration, expiration, and last-change events.
  • Domain status values such as clientTransferProhibited.
  • Nameservers and DNSSEC delegation status.
  • Notices explaining redaction, terms, or service policy.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Why is the registrant name missing?

Privacy law, registry policy, registrar policy, or a privacy service may limit public contact data. DNS Look displays only what the authoritative RDAP response publishes.

Is an expiration date guaranteed?

No. Registries differ, and lifecycle events can change during renewal, redemption, or transfer. Confirm important dates with the registrar.
